Hey INFP, why can't you just start? The brutal truth? It's the weight of 'perfect.' I've been there, let me tell you my story.
The Perfectionism Trap
Ten years ago, I wanted to start a dope blog. But because I thought 'my first post has to be perfect,' I spent 3 months just brainstorming topics. Guess what? I never started. INFPs' main function Fi makes us chase ideal values, and our secondary Ne gives us endless possibilities. This combo creates a perfect vision in our heads, and then reality hits – it sucks. Stanford research says perfectionism drops productivity by over 30%. INFPs especially fall into this trap when we're about to start.
My Personal Story: Drawing
Last year, I tried to learn digital drawing. Bought a tablet, but then I was like 'my first drawing has to be a masterpiece,' so I spent two weeks just drawing lines. Finally, I listened to a YouTuber and posted a 'bad drawing' on social media. Shockingly, people hyped me up, and I got better way faster. Starting imperfect actually made me grow.
The Fix: Start Small
How to break perfectionism? Simple. Use the '5-minute rule.' Do anything for just 5 minutes, then stop. No need to be perfect, just start. For INFPs, it's not about the 'perfect end result' – it's about the 'real process.' I'm writing this post right now without stressing over perfect wording – just typing. You too, take one small action now. Perfection will catch up later.
